Rally Riders Reorder Things
The race column puts the most-used control at the bottom of the row. On a rally-style machine that suits a rider changing traction and ABS repeatedly through a day rather than setting them once at the start of it.
Not the Enduro Layout
JetPrime lists a separate enduro block with off-road control positions. This is the race arrangement fitted to a Tuareg, which is a different choice and worth being clear about before ordering.
Nineteen Litres and Two Hundred and Four Kilograms
Wet, with a tank that gives a genuine day's range. That combination is what decides whether a rider picks the bike up alone at the end of a trail or waits for someone to help.
Eighty Horsepower From the Same Twin
Aprilia detuned the 660 engine and moved its torque down, which on gravel matters far more than the twenty horsepower given away to the RS. The character changes completely with the state of tune.
Ergal 7075
An aerospace-grade alloy with roughly twice the yield strength of ordinary machined aluminium. On a bike that will be laid down on rock at some point, that difference is the whole reason for the material.
Three Anodised Finishes
Black, blue and titanium, converted into the surface. An adventure bike collects scratches as a matter of routine, and a dulled anodised patch looks considerably better than a flaked coating.
Sand Is Worse Than Rain
Water evaporates out of a joint; fine grit does not. It works past a clipped cover, settles against a contact and stays there for the life of the component, which is why the elements here are enclosed.
Aprilia's Own Plug
Pre-wired, with nothing cut into the harness. On a motorcycle taken a long way from a workshop, an installation containing no spliced wires is the one that keeps working.
Twenty-One Inches at the Front
Aprilia committed to a proper rally geometry rather than fitting a nineteen inch wheel and calling it adventure. That decision is why the Tuareg attracts owners who genuinely leave the tarmac, and why those owners start rearranging their controls within the first season.
