Air Into the Exhaust
A solenoid opens a path from the airbox to the exhaust ports whenever the throttle shuts. The fuel that escaped combustion burns there instead.
Why the Warning Appears
The winding is checked electrically at every start. Disconnect the valve and the controller sees an open circuit rather than a deleted component.
Answering Correctly
The eliminator returns the expected resistance. That is a different thing from bridging the pins, which produces its own fault code.
Lean-Sensitive ABS, in 2013
KTM fitted Bosch's cornering system to the 1190 before anyone else in the class. It reset what an adventure bike was expected to carry.
A Hundred and Fifty Horsepower
From the LC8 V-twin, in a bike meant for continents. The 1190 was faster than most sports tourers and comfortable enough to prove it.
Popping on a Trailing Throttle
It comes from the header, not the can. Owners change silencers hoping to cure it and only make it louder.
Before Any Fuelling Work
Air entering after combustion ruins gas analysis. Every mapping decision made on those numbers inherits the error.
One Connector
KTM's own plug, pre-wired, no adapters. Nothing is cut and nothing is joined with a crimp that corrodes.
The Other Half
The reed assembly stays on the cylinder head until the cover replaces it. This is the electrical side of the job.
Type Approval
Emissions equipment is part of the approval. Removing it ends road legality across every European market.
The Bike That Reset the Class
Before the 1190 an adventure bike was expected to be competent and heavy. KTM built one that was genuinely fast, gave it electronics nobody else had, and forced every rival to answer within two model years.
