DescriptionThe whole story▼
Brake feel is hard to measure and easy to recognise. A rider who has done a few circuit days can tell within two corners whether the lever is going to be honest for the rest of the session, and that judgement is made through the fingers rather than on a data screen. For the R nineT Pure of 2017 to 2023 Accossato lists the AGPA96 plate in the ZXC ceramic racing compound, a ceramic mixture the company describes as made for racing, and offers it alongside four other materials on the same shape.
Key Features
- Front pads for the BMW R nineT Pure, listed for 2017 to 2023
- AGPA96ZXC: the AGPA96 plate in the ZXC ceramic racing compound
- Accossato describes it as a ceramic mixture intended for racing
- For circuit sessions, test days and competition
- Each box contains the two pads that one caliper takes
- With a caliper on each front disc, a whole axle needs two boxes
- Also offered as OR, ST, EV1 and EV2 articles on the same plate
- No German ABE available to us; supplied for racing and circuit riding
Construction and Material Quality
Only the friction layer changes across this group of article numbers, and here it is a ceramic recipe that Accossato reserves for competition. The firm keeps its explanation brief, and the interesting part of the specification is what it implies about the day the pad was drawn for: sessions that are short, hot and repeated, rather than a year of commuting. Accossato has been in this trade since 1969 and knows the difference well enough to keep separate materials for separate uses instead of selling one as a cure-all. The carton holds a pair of pads, which is what a single caliper on the Pure will accept.
What the Lever Tells You
Feel is really a sequence. There is the first contact as the pads meet the disc, the way force builds as the fingers close, and the point at which the rider stops squeezing and starts trusting. A material that changes that sequence halfway through a session takes confidence with it, and confidence is what decides how deep anybody is willing to go into a corner. Judge a new set over a couple of laps before drawing conclusions, and pay attention to where the lever sits rather than to how hard you have to pull. If it starts creeping closer to the bar as the day goes on, come in and look at fluid, pads and disc rather than riding around the problem. Keep the front of the Pure free of every kind of spray; nothing spoils lever feel faster than a contaminated disc.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists this plate for the front wheel of the R nineT Pure built between 2017 and 2023, and the AGPA29 for the rear of the same bike across those years. The DK006 is the front disc offered for the Pure in the same catalogue. Because one box serves one caliper, two are needed for the front of the machine, and fitting both at once keeps the two sides working at the same state of wear. Owners whose riding has changed since the last pad change will find the other four materials on the shelf under their own article numbers.
Road Approval
This pad arrives without a German ABE and without any approval mark, so there is nothing on file documenting it for use on public roads. We sell the AGPA96ZXC for closed circuits and competition.
Scope of Delivery
