DescriptionThe whole story▼
Look along a club motocross grid and count the bikes that are more than ten years old. There will be plenty, and most of them are 125s, because that is the class where a rider's budget matters most and where an older machine is still entirely competitive in the right hands. What keeps those bikes racing is not nostalgia; it is the fact that the parts they consume are still catalogued and still cheap. Accossato lists the AGS17 for the 125SX of 2009 to 2018, a silver clutch lever in the shape of the original.
Key Features
- Original-shape clutch lever for the KTM 125SX
- Accossato's entry runs from 2009 to 2018
- Silver
- Left of the handlebar, clutch side
- An original spare parts type, priced as a spare rather than a tuning part
- Accossato states that the way these levers are made improves resistance after damage
- One lever
- No approval papers held; listed for racing and competition
Construction and Material Quality
For an older race bike, a replacement in the original form is worth more than an upgrade. The AGS17 follows the outline of the clutch lever the 125SX was built with, so nothing about the cockpit changes and a rider who has owned the machine for years carries on as before. Accossato developed these levers to keep an ordinary repair at an ordinary price, which is precisely the economics that keeps old bikes on track, and reports that the production method used leaves them more resistant once they have taken damage or a fall. The listed colour is silver, and nothing further is published about the part.
Why Old 125s Keep Racing
The running costs of a small two-stroke are what make club racing possible for people who pay for it themselves, and controls are a real part of that arithmetic. A season on a 125SX will account for a couple of levers at least, more if the rider is learning or the track is hard, and the difference between a spare that costs a tank of fuel and one that costs a tyre decides how many weekends somebody can afford. That is the practical case for buying the plain replacement rather than the tuning part on a bike of this age. There is a second argument too. An older machine has usually been through several owners and a few rebuilds, and every part on it that is standard makes the next repair easier to work out; a cockpit full of mixed aftermarket components is how a cheap bike becomes an expensive puzzle. Keep it simple, keep it standard, and look after what is there: strip the pivot a few times a season, clean and grease it, make sure the blade returns fully on its own, and replace anything twisted rather than persuading it back into shape. A well-maintained old 125SX with standard controls will see out machines that cost three times as much.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGS17 for the 125SX from 2009 to 2018 and the AGS14 from 2013 to 2022, so a bike from the overlapping seasons appears under both and the fitted lever has to decide; take it off, compare the pivot end with the product pictures, or send us a photograph. On the brake side there is only the AGD316. The AGS17 is also catalogued with us for the Husqvarna FS 450, the TC 250 and the TE 300. Accossato's CNC levers for this machine are the B8283, the C7283 and the C7284.
Road Approval
Accossato provided no approval documents for the AGS17, so there is no German ABE and no test mark to quote. The lever is offered for racing and competition use.
