DescriptionThe whole story▼
When the Ducati Diavel appeared in 2011, it surprised people who thought they knew what a Ducati was: a long, low power cruiser with a very wide rear tyre and a superbike-derived engine. The first Diavel stayed in production until 2018 and passed through several editions, and many of those bikes are now kept by owners who take pride in their condition. For the Diavel of 2011 to 2018, Accossato lists the FC135, a filler cap with quick release, made entirely from CNC-machined aluminium and fitted with a pawl in a pin colour of your choice.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Ducati Diavel, 2011 to 2018
- Machined entirely from aluminium on CNC equipment
- Quick-closing pawl for fast opening and closing
- Pin to order in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
- Replacement pawl sold on its own
- Accossato part number FC135
- No German ABE documented; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
The FC135 is aluminium from top to bottom, machined on CNC equipment, and Accossato describes it as robust and durable. A machined aluminium surface also needs little more than sensible cleaning, as the next section explains. The cap is opened and closed by a quick-closing pawl, which shortens both jobs, and the pin on that pawl is available in six colours. The design is new. Should the pawl get damaged, Accossato offers it as a separate spare, so the cap itself stays in use.
Looking After Machined Aluminium
Aluminium stays good-looking with very little effort, provided it is the right kind of effort. Wash the Diavel with a mild motorcycle shampoo and plenty of water, rinse the top of the tank with a gentle stream rather than a pressure washer aimed at the filler, and dry it with a soft microfibre cloth. Leave abrasive polishes and scouring pads in the cupboard: they put fine scratches into machined surfaces that are hard to get out again. Fuel drips deserve prompt attention too, because on the paint around the filler they can leave marks if they are allowed to dry, so keep a clean cloth ready whenever you refuel. Every few washes, open the cap and wipe the seal seat, making sure no grit has collected where the cap closes. Over the winter, keep the cap shut and a cover over the tank so dust stays out of the pawl.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FC135 for the Diavel from 2011 to 2018. Its entries include the original bike of 2011 to 2013, the Strada and White Stripe versions of 2013 and 2014, the Cromo of 2013 and the facelifted Diavel sold from 2015 to 2018. With us, the same cap is also listed for the X Diavel, the Panigale 959 and the Panigale 1299. Later Diavels use other Accossato caps, so it is worth matching your bike to the application list before you order.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE or expert report on record for the FC135, and we sell it for track use. Like most factory caps, the Diavel's original locks, and on public roads it is the one that belongs on the tank.
