DescriptionThe whole story▼
Launched for 2013 as part of a trio of twins built around the A2 licence, the CB500F became one of Honda's most familiar roadsters, and many riders learn to corner properly on one. Learning to corner well includes understanding what happens when you need to slow down in a bend. The Accossato EDF025 is a brake lever for the original master cylinder of the CB500F, listed for 2013 to 2021, machined from aluminium and adjustable for reach.
Key Features
- Front brake lever for the Honda CB500F, 2013 to 2021
- Mounts on the original front master cylinder
- Reach adjustable to your hand and gloves
- Blade short, standard (approximately 138 mm) or long
- Seven anodised colours; hub black on every version
- Machined from aluminium, fixed construction
- No German ABE documented; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
CNC machining gives the EDF025 its shape, anodising its colour and hardness. The black hub is where the lever turns and where its reach is adjusted; the blade is a single, rigid piece that leads straight from the hub to your fingers, with no joint between them. That matters for the delicate end of braking, the light pressures you use when trimming speed in a bend, because a fixed lever passes on even small changes in finger force without softening them.
Sharing Grip Between Turning and Stopping
A tyre has only so much grip, and it has to share it between turning and braking. Upright, almost all of it is available to stop the bike. Leaned over in a corner, much of it is already busy holding the line, and a sudden, hard pull on the front brake can ask for more than is left. That is why riders are taught to do most of their braking before the bend, while the bike is still upright. Yet sometimes a corner tightens or something appears on the exit, and you need to lose speed while leaned over. The answer is a light, progressive squeeze that increases as the bike stands up, never a grab. On the CB500F, that kind of fine control is much easier when the lever sits exactly where your fingers are, so that you do not have to reach or shift your grip in the middle of a corner. Set the EDF025 with that in mind, and consider the short blade if you prefer to keep two fingers on it through the whole bend.
Fitment and Compatibility
The EDF025 is listed for the CB500F from 2013 to 2021, covering the bike from its launch through its revisions, and mounts on the original master cylinder. From 2022, Accossato lists the EDF018 instead. The clutch lever for the 2013 to 2021 CB500F is the ESH250.
Road Approval
Because there is no documented German ABE for this lever, it is sold for the track.
