Sprint Filter P14 Air Filter for Dusty Conditions – Kove NK321R (2021–2026) PM242P14

Consider the NK321R that is put away for four months of the year. It comes out of the garage in spring, gets its chain and its tyres looked at, and the airbox stays shut because there is nothing obvious to do there. A dry element makes that the correct decision rather than a lucky one. Nothing in it dries out, hardens, migrates or needs renewing while the machine sits, so the filter that went into storage is the filter that comes out of it, and the first ride of the year does not begin with a maintenance debt nobody remembered taking on.

The case against a treated element on a stored bike

An oiled gauze filter is only doing its job while the oil is where it should be, in the right quantity and evenly spread. Time works against that. Months in a cold garage, then heat cycles once the machine is running again, and the treatment is no longer the film the manufacturer described. Re-oiling is the answer, and re-oiling is the step that gets rushed, skipped, or done too generously — the last of which sends the surplus forward into an intake tract that has sensors in it. Removing the oil removes the failure mode. There is nothing to inspect and nothing to judge by eye.

Fine media on a small engine

Be clear about the exchange rate. Against the standard 80-micron fabric rated at 5,050 l/m²/sec, this mat gives 14 microns at 1,800: more of the fine fraction held back, less air through the same area of material. On a compact engine that is asked to rev, that is a genuine decision and not a free upgrade, and it should be made on where the machine is ridden rather than on which number looks more serious. Neither medium changes what the engine makes. An air filter inside the standard airbox does not add noticeable power to a standard NK321R; it lowers intake resistance and holds that figure steady between services, which is a smaller and more truthful claim.

Care and cleaning

Regeneration is done with compressed air from the clean side, pushed outward through the mat. If the deposit has gone beyond that, wash the PM242P14 in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinse until the water runs clear, and let it dry naturally in moving air.
