There is a step below this one. Sprint Filter draws a second fine specification for the Hypermotard V2's airbox, a 7-micron grade rated at 560 litres per square metre per second, and the two are listed at the same price. That is worth saying out loud, because it removes the signal most buyers lean on. Between 14 microns and 7 there is no cheaper option and no dearer one. The tie is broken by the surface under the wheels, the one input the catalogue cannot supply.
Key Features
- Dry nonwoven filtering to 14 microns, the middle of the fine end of this range
- 1,800 litres per square metre per second of rated flow, set against 5,050 for the standard 80-micron panel
- Approximately twice the filter area of an ordinary performance element
- Fits the series airbox as the original does: one element, no modification, no remap
- Cleaned with compressed air and refitted dry; there is no oil in the specification
- Built to last the life of the motorcycle, with two years of warranty from purchase
Where the line falls
Fourteen microns at 1,800 litres per square metre per second is a road specification that expects dust some of the time: dry lanes in August, farm traffic, the fine mineral load hanging behind other vehicles. Seven microns at 560 is drawn for conditions where that load is continuous rather than occasional — loose surfaces, dry tracks, ground that is not sealed. A supermoto sits on that boundary and its owners sit on both sides of it. Ridden off the tarmac with any regularity, the finer grade is the honest answer; kept on the road, its extra retention is paid for in flow that never comes back.
What neither grade does
Neither makes the motorcycle faster. A slot-in element leaves a standard Hypermotard V2 exactly as strong as it was, and both fine grades trade intake headroom away for retention; this one hands over well over half the standard rating already. The gain is elsewhere. The medium is dry, so it is washed and refitted instead of replaced, and the area is roughly double that of a normal performance element, so the restriction it does impose drifts less as the load builds. There is no third claim.
Care and cleaning
The element is dry going in and dry every time after. Compressed air applied to the clean face and worked outward returns most of the load. Anything oily wants lukewarm water and a mild detergent, followed by a rinse until the water runs clean. It must then dry in circulating air at room temperature: heat of any kind, from a gun or a flame, destroys the nonwoven. The PM279P14 is refitted with nothing applied to it at all. Sprint Filter's maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Ducati Hypermotard V2 of 2026 — the 890 cc machine, not the 939 or 950 Hypermotards that came before it. Those sit in a different airbox and take CM61P14; the two are not interchangeable and will not fit each other's housings. Alongside the Hypermotard V2, this code covers the Monster V2 of 2026 and the Panigale V2 and Streetfighter V2 of 2025–2026: four machines, one engine, one part number.
