The lightest of Spark's three Dyno kits for the middleweight Duke, and the least expensive. Carbon fibre end caps instead of anodised aluminium take the whole system to 2.5 kilos, which is eight hundred grams under the standard exhaust.
Key Features
- Euro5+ homologated 3/4 kit for the KTM 790 Duke, 890 Duke, 890 Duke L and 890 Duke R.
- Two Dyno titanium silencers, high mounting, one per side.
- Carbon fibre end caps.
- 2.5 kg against 3.3 kg for the standard exhaust - the lightest of the three finishes.
- Stainless-steel connection to the original catalytic manifold.
- 1,154 euro, the lowest price of the three.
A Hundred Grams and the Lowest Price
The three finishes are the same kit with a different cap, and the numbers fall in an order that is worth noticing: carbon is both the lightest and the cheapest. 2.5 kg against 2.6 for either anodised version, and 1,154 euro against 1,177 and 1,298.
That is unusual. Carbon is normally the option you pay extra for, and here it is the entry point of the three. If the decision is being made on anything other than looks, this is the version that wins it.
Carbon at the Outlet
The cap is the one place on a silencer where carbon makes obvious sense: it is at the cold end, it carries no load, and it is the part a rider looks at. The weave sits against the raw titanium case rather than against paint, so the two materials read as what they are.
It behaves differently from anodised aluminium over time. Carbon does not scratch to bare metal, but it will dull if it is scrubbed, which is the reason for the cleaning note further down.
Same Kit Behind the Cap
Nothing else changes between the three versions. Same Dyno titanium cases, same high mounting on both sides, same stainless fittings onto the standard catalytic manifold, same Euro5+ approval, same holders in the box. The pipe diameters are where Spark did the tuning work, and the company describes the gain as reaching down into the middle of the rev range rather than sitting only at the top.
What a Dyno Silencer Is
It is Spark's current design, drawn up when the DUKE 990 and SUPERDUKE 1390 arrived and then fitted to the rest of the range. The bottom plate is machined on a five-axis CNC and the end cap is milled with perforations that take weight out. On this version that milled face is carbon rather than metal.
Installation
Slip-on level. The kit connects to the original catalytic manifold with stainless-steel fittings and junction, so the catalytic converter stays on the motorcycle. Spark supplies the holders and all mounting parts needed to fit it with the passenger footrests in place, and also includes the holders for running the bike without them.
Care: do not clean with aggressive products. Degreasers and car-wash chemicals attack the anodised and machined surfaces.
Fitment & Compatibility
KTM 790 Duke, 890 Duke, 890 Duke L and 890 Duke R, 2018 to 2024. Black anodised end caps are GKT0119TOMN and orange GKT0119TOMA. The earlier Grid-O kits are GKT0110TOM, GKT0115TOM and the unapproved GKT0110T.
Road Approval
Homologated to Euro5+. Spark states compliance with the Euro 5+ regulation, and the standard catalytic converter stays in the system.
