DescriptionThe whole story▼
Steering damper bracket kit SD033/037/038, Öhlins part number 21400-01. A housing carries adjusters and their seals, so its bores matter as much as its outside.

- Dimension C 038 mm
- Dimension B 037 mm
- Öhlins part number 21400-01
- Dimension A 033 mm
Where It Sits
Dimensionally this is 033 mm, 037 mm, 038 mm, which is how it is told apart from the rest of the range. Mounting hardware is specific to the machine and the unit it belongs to. Reservoir housings hold the gas charge and are pressure-rated accordingly. Mounting hardware is model-specific even where the damper body is common.
Genuine Service Part
Öhlins supports units that are decades old, which is why the spare parts list runs to thousands of numbers. The alternative to a service part is usually a new damper, which is why this catalogue exists. Ask us before ordering if you are unsure: a wrong part in a pressurised unit is an expensive lesson. If the unit is already apart, compare the published dimensions with the part in your hand.
Getting the Number Right
Part number 21400-01 is unambiguous; the description alone is not, because Öhlins uses similar wording across sizes. The published dimensions are dimension a 033 mm, dimension b 037 mm, dimension c 038 mm — measure the old part against them if you are unsure. Brackets locate the damper or reservoir against the chassis and take the load in one direction only. Housings carry bores for adjusters and seals; their concentricity decides whether the unit seals.
Fitting and Setup Service
A damper rebuild is workshop work: it needs the unit dismantled, the shim stack rebuilt in the correct order and the gas charge reset. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and do exactly that in house — send us the unit or ask us to fit the part with your order.
