Function
The published figures are 16 mm, 153 mm. Measure the old part against them before ordering. Shaft straightness matters: a bent shaft drags in the seal head and destroys the seal within hours. Any mark on the polished section is a reason to replace rather than to reassemble. A shaft is threaded at both ends: one for the piston, one for the mounting.

The published dimensions are diameter 16 mm, length 153 mm — measure the old part against them if you are unsure. Corrosion on a stored damper usually starts on the exposed shaft. Shafts are not shortened or extended; the length is the specification.

A damper rebuild is workshop work: it needs the unit dismantled, the shim stack rebuilt in the correct order and the gas charge reset. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and do exactly that in house — send us the unit or ask us to fit the part with your order.
