The seat face has to be flat enough for the first shim to seal against it.

Key Features

Original Öhlins service part

Öhlins part number 02209-02

Where It Sits

Öhlins publishes no separate dimension for this position, so the part number carries the identity. Öhlins machines its pistons so the port edges stay sharp and the flow predictable. Port area sets how much oil can pass before the shims begin to lift. Piston bands are consumables — they wear against the bore and lose their seal gradually.

Why the Original

This is an original Öhlins part, not an aftermarket equivalent — the tolerances are the ones the unit was assembled to. The alternative to a service part is usually a new damper, which is why this catalogue exists. Send us the model and serial number of your unit and we will confirm the position before you order. Öhlins numbers do not follow a logic you can guess — always read them from the documentation.

Getting the Number Right

Öhlins identifies this position by the number 02209-02 in the exploded view for the unit it belongs to. Where no measurement is given, the drawing position is what identifies the part. A worn piston band lets oil past the outside of the piston, which shows up as damping that has gone soft. Needle geometry sets the shape of the adjustable range, not just its size.

Fitting and Setup Service

If you would rather not open the damper yourself, we can do it — we are an authorised Öhlins service centre and rebuild these units as a matter of routine.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 02209-02

Category: Pistons

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/02209-02_d3006797-a44f-4a84-a8d3-0ae09eb617c0.png?v=1788874064
