DescriptionThe whole story▼
On a CB650F the reservoir sits in plain sight at the bar, unstyled. Enter the OBT001: a 31 cm³ billet reservoir at 106 g, built to replace the original box. There are 2 finishes to choose from, all at the same price. The 649 cc CB650F takes it with the standard fittings.
Key Features
- Supplied individually for the CB650F
- The OBT001 is machined from solid, not cast or pressed
- Colour is the only choice to make on the OBT001
- Laser-engraved LighTech logo on the shell
- Billet aluminium outer shell, machined from solid
- A stock LighTech item rather than a special order
Fitting
Fitting the OBT001 to a CB650F is a hand-tool job. Bleed and pressure-test the circuit on the CB650F afterwards; this is not a cosmetic part. Everything removed from the CB650F can go straight back on.
Why Replace the Reservoir
There is a reason race bikes carry visible reservoirs. The OBT001 comes with a rubber gasket under the cap, which is what keeps fluid where it belongs. At 106 g it weighs about what the plastic original does.
Fitment and Compatibility
This listing covers the Honda CB650F, 2014 to 2020. LighTech builds this reservoir as a universal part — it is not machined to the CB650F specifically, and the fit depends on where you mount it.
Looking After It
Brake fluid attacks paint and anodising alike, so wipe spills off the CB650F immediately. There is no service interval for the part itself.
Sold Separately
A mount is not included with the OBT001. The brackets are listed under OBT003, OBT008 and OBT009; they differ in height and projection, not in quality. Tell us where you want it on the CB650F and we will put the right bracket on the order.
What Is in the Box
LighTech ships the OBT001 complete except for the mount. LighTech keeps it as a stock item.
Brake System and Road Approval
A fluid reservoir is part of the braking system, and German law treats it that way. We list the OBT001 without an approval claim because LighTech issues none. For a road-registered CB650F in Germany, have the installation assessed before you rely on it — and have the system bled and checked by a workshop afterwards.
