Two Drillings, One Bike
JetPrime makes this switch in both clamp geometries rather than forcing a universal plate on everyone. This is the offset version, for cylinders whose two bolts do not sit on a line square to the handlebar.
Where the Offset Comes From
Almost always from an aftermarket master cylinder. The standard R3 unit uses a conventional arrangement, so a bike needing this drilling has usually had its front brake improved, which on a small sports bike is a common early modification.
Look, Do Not Deduce
Manufacturers change bolt spacing between generations of the same product, so working the geometry out from a model name is unreliable. Standing at the bar and looking settles it immediately.
The Inverted-Fork R3
This generation brought KYB inverted forks, a sharper fairing and clip-ons mounted lower. It is the version most often prepared for track use, because the chassis finally justified the effort.
Small Bikes Get Dropped
At low speed, in car parks, and on the first lap of a wet session. A milled Ergal body scuffs where a moulded housing splits at the clamp, and on a bike whose owner may be new to riding that difference is felt more than once.
Black Anodised
One finish on this part number, converted into the surface rather than applied on top of it. It dulls with age rather than flaking.
Sealed Elements
The contacts inside are sealed units. Combined with a housing that has no moulded joint, that is the specification that decides whether the switch still feels right after two winters outdoors.
