The lower half of the R 1300 GS end cap. It is the one that faces the ground, takes the stone chips thrown up by the front wheel and gets the worst of a fall — which is why it is the half more often ordered on its own.

Why the lower half wears first
Anything mounted low on an adventure bike lives a harder life than the part above it. Gravel, salt and water come from below; a drop onto the right-hand side lands on the silencer. On a GS that is ridden on unsealed roads the lower cap is the piece that ages, and replacing it alone is a sensible repair rather than a compromise.
Two numbers for one cap
Akrapovic splits this end cap into V-EC463 for the upper half and V-EC464 for the lower. Both cost the same. If both halves are marked, order both — the difference between a new cap and a half-new one is visible from several metres away.
The R 1300 GS range
