Read the suffix. E4 stands for Euro 4, and Akrapovic uses it to separate this converter from the versions built for other emissions standards. On a Ducati air-cooled twin that ran from 2015 through 2020, the standard changed part way through the production run — so the model year alone does not settle which converter a given motorcycle needs.

Which Standard Is Your Bike
Euro 3 ran until the end of 2016, Euro 4 from 2017. A Scrambler 800 registered in 2016 and one registered in 2018 are not the same motorcycle where emissions equipment is concerned, and a converter matched to the wrong standard is the wrong part.
The registration document settles it. If in doubt, the frame number and a dealer lookup settle it properly.
Not Tied to an Akrapovic System Here
For several bikes in this catalogue, a converter exists because an approved Akrapovic exhaust needs one to stay legal. That is not the case here — the Akrapovic slip-on for the Monster 797 and Scrambler is a track part with no approval at all.
So this converter has a different job: it is a replacement for a failed original, and it is what gets a Scrambler through its next inspection.
Converters Do Fail
The substrate cracks under thermal cycling, and a spell of running rich after a misfire can coat it beyond recovery. A 2015 Scrambler is now old enough that both are realistic.
The signs are a rattle from under the bike, a flat spot at higher revs, or a failed emissions test. Nothing about it can be judged by looking, which is also the argument against buying one used.
What the Coating Does
Palladium, rhodium and platinum, bonded to a metal honeycomb. Carbon monoxide and unburned hydrocarbons pass over them and leave as carbon dioxide and water vapour. The metals are most of what the part costs.
What Happens With the Wrong One
A converter built for a different emissions standard may physically bolt in and still be wrong. The substrate volume and the coating loading are matched to a specific exhaust flow and a specific test cycle, and a mismatch shows up as a failed measurement rather than as a part that does not fit.
That is the awkward kind of error: everything looks finished, the bike runs, and the problem only appears at the inspection.
Three Names, One Air-Cooled Twin
Ducati's 803 cc air-cooled L-twin powered the Monster 797, the Scrambler Icon, the Classic and the Café Racer. They differ in wheels, bars and paint rather than in the exhaust, so one converter serves all of them.
Not an Exhaust
