DescriptionThe whole story▼
Thirteen models across twenty-two years. This is the widest fitment of any part in our Akrapovic catalogue — one footpeg set that goes on an F 700 GS from 2013, an R 1300 GS from 2025 and an R 12 nineT, because BMW has kept the same footpeg mounting through all of them.
Key Features
- Cast in one piece from Grade 5 titanium in Akrapovic's own foundry
- Octagonal profile with a Y-shaped reinforcement
- Central teeth and a wide surface for weight distribution and grip
- Designed for standing and heel-down riding on enduro terrain
- A pair of rubber pads included, fitted without tools
- Fits thirteen BMW models from 2004 to 2026
- The original mounting hardware must be reused
Why the Fitment List Is So Long
BMW's boxer GS and its parallel twin F-series share a footpeg bracket design that has barely changed since the R 1200 GS of 2004. Akrapovic built one set to that interface, and it carries across the whole family — including the R 12 and R 12 nineT, which are roadsters rather than adventure bikes.
Check your own machine against the list rather than assuming. The R 1200 GS ended in 2018, the R 1250 GS ran to 2023 and the R 1300 GS started in 2024, so the year that matters is your bike's, not the range as a whole.
Grade 5 Titanium, Cast Not Machined
Akrapovic casts these in its own foundry rather than machining them from billet. A casting can carry material exactly where the load is and nowhere else, which is how a one-piece peg gets both the strength for standing on rough ground and a weight that is worth the price.
Grade 5 is the alloy used in aerospace fasteners: high strength, and it does not corrode. A GS that sees winter salt will not eat these.
The Teeth and the Pads
The central teeth bite into a boot sole when you are standing on the pegs off-road. That is what you want on a trail and emphatically not what you want on a four-hour motorway stretch, which is why a pair of rubber pads is in the box.
They go on and come off without tools. Fit them for the road section, pull them off at the trailhead.
Fitting Notice
Akrapovic states that the original mounting hardware must be reused when fitting these pegs. Do not discard the pins and clips with the standard footpegs — the set does not include replacements.
What a Footpeg Actually Has to Survive
A footpeg carries the rider's whole weight through a contact patch the size of a hand, and it does it while the bike is moving over uneven ground. Then, when the machine goes down, it becomes the point the motorcycle pivots on — often with a loaded pannier adding leverage.
Those are two entirely different loads. The first is repetitive and vertical; the second is a single violent bending force from the side. A cast one-piece part with an internal Y-brace answers both, which is why Akrapovic did not simply make a wider version of the standard peg.
On a GS, Not Just an Adventure Bike
The list includes the R 12 and R 12 nineT, which are roadsters with no off-road pretension at all. Fitting an enduro peg to one of those sounds odd until you have ridden a nineT with the rubber pads on: a wider platform is simply more comfortable, and the standard BMW peg is small.
The teeth are there when you want them and covered when you do not.
