DescriptionThe whole story▼
With its half fairing, the Yamaha FZ1 Fazer is a capable sport tourer, and many owners fit soft luggage and head off for weekends away in all weathers. For that use, Accossato makes the AGPA97 front pad in Sintered (ST) compound. Accossato says it keeps a high and constant grip level at both high and low temperatures and grips well in the wet. It is listed for the FZ1 1000 Fazer from 2006 to 2016.
Key Features
- AGPA97 front pad, Accossato Sintered (ST) compound
- Listed for the Yamaha FZ1 Fazer, 2006-2016
- Accossato: high, constant grip hot or cold, good in the rain
- Suited to sport touring with luggage
- Consistent lever feel on autumn roads
- One box covers one front caliper
- Also made as OR, EV1, EV2 and ZXC
Construction and Material Quality
Ask Accossato what its ST mix is for and the answer is consistency. The pad should neither feel dull on a chilly morning nor go soft after a spirited run down a mountain, and a film of rain on the rotor should not rob it of its bite. That is valuable on a half-faired four that is ridden across seasons. Like everything the Italian firm makes, it is also intended to wear slowly, to keep its temperature and therefore fading in check, and to haul the bike down firmly.
Weekend Trips in Changing Weather
A weekend away on an FZ1 Fazer often means a mix of fast main roads, twisty passes and at least one shower. With a tank bag and tail pack, the bike carries some extra weight, and the front brake works harder on descents. The ST compound is designed to keep the same bite through all of that, so the lever feels familiar whether the road is dry, wet, cold or warm. It also suits riders who keep the Fazer running through autumn and winter. For town use, OR is quieter; for a faster road pace, EV1.
Fitment and Compatibility
Our data pairs AGPA97 with the front calipers of the FZ1 1000 Fazer from the 2006 to 2016 model years, while the rear caliper of the same bike takes AGPP88. The Fazer has a caliper on each fork leg, so you need a box per side. A day before setting off is a good moment to look at what is left of the old pads, run a finger along the discs for a lip at the edge and check the fluid window. Swap left and right in the same session, wipe the pistons clean before they go back, and give the new pads a gradual bedding-in on the first miles.
Road Approval
No ABE or Prüfzeichen is available to us for AGPA97ST, so it is sold for competition.
