DescriptionThe whole story▼

For a lot of owners the 125EXC is the bike that makes its own way to the woods. It is ridden out through villages and along lanes, spends the middle of the day on trails, and then has to do the whole journey again in reverse with tired arms and failing light. That return leg is the reason a damaged control on an enduro bike is a bigger problem than it looks: whatever breaks in the forest has to work in traffic. Accossato lists the AGS17 for the 125EXC of 2009 to 2016, a silver clutch lever in the shape of the original.

Key Features

  • Clutch lever of the original type for the KTM 125EXC
  • Accossato's entry runs from 2009 to 2016
  • Silver
  • Left of the handlebar, clutch side
  • One of Accossato's original spare parts types, developed for value
  • Accossato states that its production method raises resistance after damage or a fall
  • One lever
  • No German ABE and no test mark; listed for racing and competition

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato's original spare parts types are for putting a bike back rather than changing it, and the AGS17 does that on the 125EXC: the blade repeats the factory outline, the take-up point stays where the hand expects it, and the bike is ridden home rather than learned again. The range exists because controls get broken in ordinary riding and should not be priced as tuning components, and the company says that the way these levers are made leaves them more resistant after damage or a collision. The colour listed here is silver, and no measurements or material are published by the manufacturer.

Riding There and Riding Back

A bike used on both surfaces deserves a check in between them. Before you leave the trail on a 125EXC, spend two minutes at the bars: work the clutch through its full travel, feel for grit or a catch, and look at the angle of the blade against the brake side. A lever that has been pushed inwards during the day will have you hunting for the bite point in a queue of traffic, and one that will not return cleanly makes finding neutral at a junction harder than it should be. If the lever has taken a real knock, decide honestly whether to ride on it or fix it. A clutch worked with a stub is manageable at walking pace on a trail and unpleasant on a road, and the ride home is exactly when tiredness makes a poor control dangerous. Back at home, do the job properly. Clean the pivot, put a trace of fresh grease on, tighten the bolt only until the movement stays free, and confirm the blade returns to its stop on its own every time. A twisted lever belongs in the bin rather than in a vice, because a blade that has been straightened once is noticeably more likely to break the next time the bike goes down, and on this machine that could be on the road rather than in the woods.

Fitment and Compatibility

On the 125EXC Accossato lists the AGS17 as the only original-type clutch lever, across 2009 to 2016, and gives the AGD316 on the brake side for 2014 and 2015 alone, so the two halves of the cockpit have quite different entries. The AGS17 is a widely shared code and appears with us for the Husqvarna FE 250, the TC 125 and the TE 300 as well. Accossato's CNC levers for this bike are the B8283 and the C7284 for anyone who wants a tuning part instead of a spare.

Road Approval

Accossato supplied no approval documentation with the AGS17, so neither a German ABE nor a test mark exists for it in our records, and the lever is listed for racing and competition use.
