DescriptionThe whole story▼

While the front of the Triumph Tiger Explorer changed pads in 2016, the rear stayed the same: Accossato lists AGPA76 for the back of every Explorer (Tiger 1200 Explorer) from 2012 to 2017. This version is in the Organic (OR) compound. On a large, heavy bike, a smooth rear brake is a great help at walking pace and in traffic, and OR delivers exactly that: a soft, progressive pedal and minimal wear on the rear disc.

Key Features

  • AGPA76 rear pad in Organic (OR) compound
  • For the Triumph Tiger Explorer (Tiger 1200 Explorer), 2012 to 2017
  • Accossato: lasting performance, disc treated gently
  • Soft, progressive pedal for low-speed control
  • One rear reference across all listed years
  • Two pads for the rear caliper
  • Sintered (ST) version also available

Construction and Material Quality

For the Organic mix, Accossato promises lasting performance and little wear on the disc, and that is all. On the rear of a big touring bike, where the brake is used gently but constantly, it is a fitting brief. In general, the manufacturer attributes long life, fade resistance through a controlled rise in heat and strong stopping to its pads.

Managing Mass at Low Speed

An Explorer is a lot of motorcycle to manoeuvre at walking pace, and experienced owners use the rear brake constantly for exactly that: a light drag through a tight turn, a gentle touch to stop the bike rolling on a slope, a steadying hand, or rather foot, in slow traffic. A pad that feeds in softly and predictably makes all of this easier and less tiring. The OR compound is designed for this kind of use, and its gentle treatment of the disc is welcome on a bike that often covers high mileages. For regular two-up touring in the wet, the ST version of AGPA76 is the better match.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists AGPA76 for the rear of the Tiger Explorer from 2012 to 2017, so one reference covers all these years. At the front, AGPA58 fits 2012 to 2015 and AGPA177 fits 2016 to 2017. When changing the rear pads, clean the piston, check the disc for wear, look at the fluid in the rear reservoir and pump the pedal until firm. Bed the pads in with gentle stops.

Road Approval

No German ABE or test mark for AGPA76OR is in our records; we offer it for racing and competition use.
