DescriptionThe whole story▼
Most RSV4s that visit a racetrack arrive in a van or on a trailer, strapped down with the front fork compressed and the handlebar pulled towards the floor. Aprilia's V4 superbike, listed here for 2009 to 2019, can spend more hours tied down on a motorway than it does on the circuit during a weekend away. The front brake reservoir travels at an angle for all that time, which makes a well-closed cap more than a detail. Accossato's TS003 is a CNC-machined, anodised aluminium cap for the front reservoir of the RSV4.
Key Features
- Front brake fluid reservoir cap for the Aprilia RSV4, 2009 to 2019
- Listed for versions including the APRC R and the Racing Factory
- For the original front reservoir
- Aluminium, CNC-machined, anodised
- Seven colours: orange, gold, silver, blue, black, green, red
- Accossato FP009 oil filler cap listed for the same bike
- No German ABE on file; intended for the track
Construction and Material Quality
A CNC mill shapes the TS003 from aluminium, and anodising gives it one of seven colours: orange, gold, silver, blue, black, green or red. Accossato designs it for the original front reservoir of the bikes on its list, so on the RSV4 the reservoir, master cylinder and lines all stay as Aprilia made them. During the swap, give the seal or diaphragm under the old cap a close look; if it is no longer supple, replace it.
Strapped Down in the Van
Loading the RSV4 for a trip to the circuit takes a few minutes, and it is worth adding one more check to that routine. Before the straps go on, make sure the front reservoir cap is fastened correctly and that there are no traces of fluid around it. Pad the straps where they touch the bars so they cannot press on the reservoir or the brake lever. On arrival, look at the reservoir again before the bike comes out of the van. A clean, dry cap means the journey has done no harm. If you find fluid, rinse it off the paint with water straight away, since brake fluid damages paintwork, and find the cause before the first session. Should you fit the TS003 at the circuit rather than at home, choose a sheltered spot, straighten the reservoir with a turn of the handlebar, and keep it open for a short time only: brake fluid takes up moisture. Check the level against the marks, tighten gently, and pump the lever at a standstill until it feels firm again.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the TS003 for the front reservoir of the RSV4 from 2009 to 2019, covering the RSV4 1000 of 2009 to 2012, the APRC R versions, the Racing Factory LE of 2015 to 2017 and the Racing Factory of 2018 and 2019. The same cap is also catalogued at Inter-Pace for the Caponord 1200 and for Ducati's Monster 1200 and Hypermotard 821. For the oil filler of the RSV4, Accossato offers the FP009. Match your version to the list before ordering.
Road Approval
The TS003 has no ABE or test mark that we could document. We supply it for circuit riding and motorsport.
