DescriptionThe whole story▼
A used R nineT Scrambler is a popular way into the world of boxer roadsters, and anyone viewing one should spend a minute crouched beside the front wheel. The discs reveal a good deal about how a bike has been ridden and looked after. For the Scrambler of 2016 to 2019, listed as the R 1200 nineT Scrambler, Accossato offers the DK007, a fixed front disc of 320 mm made as one steel piece. The Italian manufacturer states that it fits in place of the original part.
Key Features
- Fixed front disc for the BMW R nineT Scrambler, 2016 to 2019
- One steel piece, according to Accossato
- Outer diameter 320 mm, centre bore 181 mm
- 5 mm thick new, minimum working thickness printed on it
- Interchangeable with the original equipment disc, per Accossato
- Priced per disc; the Scrambler's front wheel takes two
- Alternative DK006 also listed for this model
- No German ABE on record; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's description of the DK007 is brief: a fixed brake disc, steel-made, interchangeable with those of original equipment. Behind it, the company says, lies experience from Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3 and a close study of tolerances. Friction surface and mounting centre are formed from the same steel part, so nothing is riveted or bolted together within the disc. It measures 320 mm across its outer edge and 181 mm across the centre bore, and the friction face is 5 mm thick when new, with the minimum working thickness printed on it, as on every Accossato disc.
Checking the Discs on a Used Scrambler
When you look at a used R nineT Scrambler, start with the edge of each front disc. A pronounced lip where the pads stop tells you the disc has been worn down over many kilometres; run a fingernail over it to judge how deep the step is. Then read the minimum thickness printed on the disc and ask the seller whether anyone has measured it recently. Blue or straw-coloured patches point to overheating, and fine cracks anywhere mean the disc must be replaced before the bike is ridden hard. Push the bike forward slowly while holding the lever lightly: a rhythmic grab suggests uneven thickness or a disc that is out of true. None of this has to kill a deal. Worn discs are a routine service item, and pricing new front discs and pads into your offer is fair to both sides. Once the bike is yours, a fresh start at the front wheel also tells you exactly how much distance the brakes have covered.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the DK007 for the R 1200 nineT Scrambler from 2016 to 2019. For the Scrambler the list also contains the DK006, a disc with the same centre bore and thickness but a smaller outer diameter, recorded for 2015 to 2023. A tape measure across the existing disc settles which one your bike needs: the DK007 is for a disc 320 mm across. The Scrambler has two discs on the front wheel, and the price covers one of them.
Road Approval
Documentation for road use in Germany is missing: there is no ABE and no type approval for the DK007. We sell it for racing and track riding.
Scope of Delivery
One DK007 in fixed, one-piece form for the front wheel of the R nineT Scrambler. Brake pads and fixing bolts have to be sourced separately.
