DescriptionThe whole story▼
AGPA58EV2 is the racing version of Accossato's front pad for the Triumph Thunderbird, listed for 2009 to 2018. A racing compound on a cruiser is an unusual choice, and it is meant only for owners who take their Thunderbird to closed-course events, where the brakes are used at full load for lap after lap. For everyday riding and touring, the Organic or Sintered versions of this pad are the more sensible choices.
Key Features
- Front pads AGPA58 for the Triumph Thunderbird, 2009 to 2018
- EV2 racing compound, SKU AGPA58EV2
- Accossato describes it as a top racing compound
- Made for sustained hard stops on a closed course
- Suits timed sessions
- Not intended for daily road use
- Same pad in OR, ST and EV1
- No test documents; racing use only
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato counts EV2 racing among its top competition compounds. It is made for the heavy, repeated loads of timed sessions, where the brake is pushed hard at every marker. Like Accossato's other pads, it is designed to limit heat build-up and to wear evenly across an event.
On a Closed Course
Taking a heavy cruiser onto a circuit places unusual demands on the front brake: a lot of mass to slow, lap after lap, with little time to cool. The EV2 compound is meant for these conditions. Prepare the Thunderbird carefully: fresh high-quality fluid, clean discs, new pads bedded in before the first timed session. Between runs, check lever travel and look at the pads for even wear. If the lever starts to feel different, stop and investigate before going out again. It is also worth riding a few slow laps at the end of the day to let the discs and pads cool down gradually before the bike goes back on the trailer.
Session Notes
Write down lever feel and pad condition after each run; small changes are easier to spot when you keep a record.
Fitment and Compatibility
According to Accossato, AGPA58 fits the front of the 1600 Thunderbird from 2009 through 2018 and the Commander, LT and Nightstorm 1700 models from 2014 through 2018. For the back wheel the maker names AGPA92. A box contains pads for one caliper, so check your Thunderbird's front brake layout before ordering, and always change pads on both sides of the axle together.
Road Approval
There is no ABE and no test certificate available to us for this pad. AGPA58EV2 is sold for racing.
