DescriptionThe whole story▼

With its high-level exhaust, 19-inch front wheel and upright bars, the Street Scrambler looks ready for a dirt road, yet plenty of them spend most of their time in town. Cities have rough surfaces of their own: cobbles, tram lines, patched asphalt and potholes. On the Street Scrambler of 2017 and 2018, the Accossato EDF014 takes the place of the original brake lever: machined aluminium, mounted on the original master cylinder, with a reach you can adjust.

Key Features

  • Brake lever for the Triumph Street Scrambler, 2017 and 2018
  • Goes on the original front master cylinder
  • Adjustable distance from the grip
  • Long blade in blue, gold, green and orange for four-finger braking
  • Standard approximately 138 mm in all seven colours; short in five
  • Aluminium, machined and anodised; hub always black
  • Fixed, without a folding joint

Construction and Material Quality

The EDF014 is CNC-machined from aluminium and anodised. Every version has a black hub, which carries the pivot and the reach adjuster; the blade is coloured to order and continuous from hub to tip, without any joint. On a bike that is ridden through city grime and the occasional gravel track, the anodised surface earns its keep: the colour sits within the oxide layer, so cleaning and small knocks are less likely to mark it than they would a painted part.

Cobbles, Tram Lines and Potholes

Rough city surfaces reward a light, early touch on the front brake. Wet cobbles offer less grip than asphalt, tram rails and metal covers less still, and a pothole is easier on the bike if you cross it with the brake released so the fork is free to absorb the hit. In practice that means braking a little earlier, finishing before the bad patch and rolling over it with the front wheel free. Tram lines deserve a crossing at as steep an angle as you can manage, again with the brakes off. The upright riding position of the Street Scrambler helps, because you can see the surface well ahead and your arms stay relaxed. The lever should match: set the EDF014 so that the blade lies under your fingers with the hand resting on the grip, allowing you to cover the brake in traffic without pressing it. With the long blade, available in blue, gold, green and orange, four fingers can share the work, which makes gentle, progressive braking on a slippery surface easier to judge.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the EDF014 for the Street Scrambler of 2017 and 2018, naming the bike Scrambler 900 and Scrambler 900 Street. The lever mounts on the original master cylinder. For the left side, the EST333P clutch lever is listed for the same two model years of the Street Scrambler.

Road Approval

Since no German ABE is documented for the EDF014, it is offered for the track.
