DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Bonneville T120 of 2016 revived the T120 name of the original 1959 Bonneville and paired it with a new, liquid-cooled 1200 twin whose character is defined by torque at low revs. Close the throttle and that engine slows the bike noticeably, so much of the everyday braking on a T120 is a combination of engine braking and a light, measured touch on the front lever. The Accossato EDF014 replaces the original brake lever of the T120, listed for 2016 to 2019 and again for 2021 to 2024, with a machined aluminium blade whose reach you can adjust.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the Bonneville T120, listed for 2016 to 2019 and 2021 to 2024
- Replaces the stock lever on the original master cylinder
- Reach adjuster close to the pivot
- Standard blade approximately 138 mm; short and long in several colours
- Anodised aluminium with a black hub
- Seven blade colours
- No folding joint, one rigid piece
Construction and Material Quality
Like the other Accossato levers in this range, the EDF014 is machined from aluminium rather than cast, and then anodised. The black hub carries the pivot and the reach adjuster. The blade is anodised in gold, silver, black, blue, green, orange or red, and it is solid from the hub to the tip, without a folding joint. Machining gives the blade an even section along its whole length, which is what makes it feel consistent under light pressure, the kind of pressure a T120 rider uses most of the time.
Engine Braking and a Light Touch
A big twin slows the bike as soon as you roll off, and experienced riders make use of it. On a country road, a T120 can often be ridden with a downshift and a gentle squeeze of the front brake instead of a series of hard stops. That style depends on the early part of the lever's travel, where small changes in finger pressure make a real difference. The lever therefore needs to sit where your fingers can rest on it and add pressure precisely. Use the adjuster to bring the blade in until your fingers meet it comfortably with the wrist straight. The standard blade suits this kind of riding well; the short one, available in orange, silver, blue, green and gold, is an option for riders who like to keep two fingers on the grip while they meter the brake. When a proper stop is needed, the whole hand still has room.
Fitment and Compatibility
Two periods appear in Accossato's list for the EDF014 on the Bonneville T120: 2016 to 2019 and 2021 to 2024. The 2020 model year is not included, so owners of a 2020 T120 should not order on the strength of this listing. On the listed bikes, the lever mounts on the original master cylinder in place of the stock blade. For the clutch side, Accossato lists the EST333P for the T120 from 2016 to 2019. The T120 Black of 2016 to 2019 has its own product page.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the EDF014, which is why it is offered for use on closed tracks.
