DescriptionThe whole story▼
Few naked bikes show their track ambitions as openly as the MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RR. Its four-cylinder engine comes from MV's superbike line, and two special editions of the Brutale 1000 carry the names of race circuits, the Nürburgring and Assen. A machine like this spends at least part of its life on track days, and that is where the brake lever works hardest. Accossato's EDF099 is a CNC-machined aluminium brake lever for the Brutale 1000 RR, listed from 2019 to 2025, adjustable for reach and made in short, standard and long versions.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the Brutale 1000 RR, 2019 to 2025
- Also listed for the Nürburgring and RR Assen editions
- Mounts on the original master cylinder
- Reach to the grip adjustable
- Short blade for two-finger braking in blue, gold, green, orange and silver
- Standard length approximately 138 mm; long blade in four colours
- Machined, anodised aluminium; black hub; rigid blade
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's work on brake discs draws on experience from Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3, so the company knows what circuit braking asks of a part. The EDF099 is CNC-machined from aluminium and then anodised: black at the hub, which carries the pivot and the reach adjuster, and your chosen colour on the blade. It is a fixed lever, one continuous piece from hub to tip. On a track day, that means it feels the same in the last session as in the first, with no hinge that could wear or rattle.
Different Circuits, One Lever
No two circuits ask the same of the brakes. Some demand a handful of very hard stops at the end of long straights; others are a chain of medium stops in which the brake is carried into one corner after another. The EDF099 can be set up for either. For the hardest stops, many riders on a Brutale 1000 RR brake with two fingers on a short blade, which keeps the other fingers around the throttle and cannot trap them against the grip at full pull. On flowing tracks, where the brake is used lightly but often, the standard blade may feel more natural. Whatever the layout, set the reach in the gloves you ride in and in your riding position, not while standing next to the bike. After fitting, check that there is a little free travel before the pads bite and that the brake light works. Then use the first session to learn how the new lever feels before braking at your usual markers.
Fitment and Compatibility
The EDF099 appears on Accossato's list for the Brutale 1000 RR from 2019 to 2025. The same entry also names the Brutale 1000 Nürburgring of 2021 to 2023 and the Brutale 1000 RR Assen of 2024. The lever fits the original master cylinder. For the clutch, Accossato lists the ESH011, but for the 2020 model year only.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for this lever, so it is sold for use at the circuit.
