A filter number that has stood against the same airbox since 2011 carries something a freshly released element cannot: a record on the exact housing it sits in. CM195S is that number for the Bullet B5 500 EFI, and it has not changed across sixteen model years of the machine. What goes into the box is one layer of woven polyester, dry, in place of the paper panel — and it stays there, because this one is washed instead of thrown away.
Key Features
- Woven polyester in a single layer, run dry: no oil when new and none at any service
- Filtration at 80 µm, rated flow 5,050 l/m²/sec through clean cloth
- Roughly twice the filtering surface of other performance elements, folded into the standard housing
- 93.13 % of the 100-micron particles held in Sprint Filter's own comparison, where four-layer oiled cotton reached 76.42 %
- Drops into the series airbox as it stands — nothing cut, nothing rerouted, no remapping
- Washable and reusable, specified for the life of the motorcycle, two years of warranty
A number older than most of the machines wearing it
A 2011 example and a 2026 example take the identical element, which tells you the housing never moved. The practical value of that is twofold: the ordering question is settled once instead of being re-checked against each model year, and the element going into the box has a long run of the same application behind it rather than a first season. It also means the part is in current production while the motorcycle is — nothing here depends on old stock.
What it is worth, honestly
A drop-in filter does not make a standard 500 single noticeably stronger, and anyone promising that has changed the subject. What the woven panel gives is an intake resistance that starts low and, because the load spreads over a large area, climbs slowly and predictably between services — plus a part that is cleaned rather than bought again. If the roads you ride are genuinely dusty, the finer answer for this box is the P14 non-woven at 14 µm and 1,800 l/m²/sec: more retention, less flow, a trade rather than a promotion.
Care and cleaning
The CM195S is serviced dry. Lay an air line against the clean face and blow outwards, so whatever settled on the intake side leaves the way it came. Greasy deposits come off with lukewarm water and a little mild detergent, rinsed until the water runs clear. After that, only open air: no heater, no hot-air gun, no flame — heat is the one thing that ends this element early. Refit it dry and untreated. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
For the Royal Enfield Bullet B5 500 EFI, 2011 to 2026. The same element is listed for three further machines: the Bullet Trials 500 EFI over the same years, the Classic 500 of 2009 to 2020 and the 535 cm³ Continental GT35 EFI of 2015 to 2018. Check your year in the Fitment tab before ordering.
