Sprint Filter P08 Air Filter for Road & Track – Husqvarna Svartpilen 125 (2021–2023) PM200S

The Svartpilen 125 shares its airbox with thirteen other machines, and that fact says more about the bike than any spec sheet. Husqvarna and KTM build the small singles on one platform, so the element in a 125 is the element in a 390 Duke and a 250 Adventure — the filter was engineered for the largest engine in the family, not the smallest. On a 124.7 cc single that means genuine headroom rather than a part sized down to the minimum. The Sprint Filter P08 PM200S replaces the paper element with a dry polyester medium in that same standard airbox.

A single cylinder does not sip air, it gulps it

Every intake stroke on a single is one large pulse rather than the smooth overlapping draw of a multi-cylinder engine. That makes the intake path unusually sensitive to restriction — there is no second cylinder filling in between. On a small-capacity single, where there is no surplus power to hide the loss, a filter that has loaded up over a service interval is felt directly in how willingly the bike pulls away.

The economics of a first bike

A 125 is often a first motorcycle, ridden every day and serviced on a budget. Paper elements are bought again at every interval; this one is cleaned. Compressed air from the clean side, back in dry, and the intake is where it started. Sprint Filter designs the P08 to last the life of the motorcycle, which on a bike likely to be passed on rather than scrapped is the useful timescale.

Care and cleaning

Blow it through from the clean side with compressed air, working outwards. For a deeper clean, wash in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinse until the water runs clear, and dry fully in air — never with heat, never with a flame.
