Why the Rate Holds
The wire is progressively wound where the application calls for it and straight where it does not. Öhlins machines its own critical components instead of buying them in, and the tolerances are where the money goes. Öhlins manufactures in Upplands Väsby, north of Stockholm, and assembles and tests every unit there before it ships.

Installation
Rate and preload are separate adjustments: get the rate right first, then set sag with preload. Oil level is measured from the top of the tube with the fork compressed and the spring removed. The springs come powder-coated and need no preparation before they go in.
Road Approval
Road approval: springs are not separately type-approved in Germany because they substitute a part that is already homologated with the fork. Model-specific documents, where they exist, are named above.
