Öhlins machines its housings from solid rather than casting them, which keeps the bores true.

Key Features

Original Öhlins service part

Öhlins part number 04750-08

Thread M47

Dimension A 47 mm

Dimension B 49.8 mm

Function

Öhlins gives it as 47 mm, 49.8 mm; nothing about that is approximate. Housing threads carry the adjusters and are the part that suffers if the adjuster is forced. Brackets locate the damper or reservoir against the chassis and take the load in one direction only. Clamps have a specified torque; over-tightening distorts the bore they hold.

Original Öhlins Part

Buying the individual part rather than a complete assembly is what makes servicing an Öhlins unit worthwhile. The alternative to a service part is usually a new damper, which is why this catalogue exists. If the unit is already apart, compare the published dimensions with the part in your hand. Service parts are supplied per piece unless the description says otherwise.

How to Be Sure It Fits

The reliable route is the exploded drawing: find the position, read the number, order it — 04750-08 in this case. Öhlins states dimension a 47 mm, dimension b 49.8 mm for this number, and those figures are the deciding ones. Öhlins anodises housings for corrosion resistance rather than for looks. Housings carry bores for adjusters and seals; their concentricity decides whether the unit seals.

Fitting and Setup Service

Öhlins recommends that its units are serviced by an authorised centre. We are one: rebuild, revalve and setup all happen in our own workshop.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 04750-08

Category: Housings

Dimension A: 47 mm

Dimension B: 49.8 mm

Thread: M47

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/04750-08_821a38fa-d57d-44e0-88d7-da4828ce9629.png?v=1788873052
