DescriptionThe whole story▼
Sunny practice days call for a lens that takes the edge off the glare, and that is where the Forge Grey Velocity 5.5 comes in. Its Rose UC lens lets through 32% of visible light, darker than a clear lens yet still warm-toned, and it sits in a grey frame with red details that looks at home on almost any bike.
Under the colour you get the familiar Velocity 5.5 hardware from Leatt: a 170° WideVision double lens with permanent anti-fog, impact testing to two standards, OTG room for glasses and Tear-Offs in the box.
Key Features
- Rose UC tinted lens at 32% VLT for bright and sunny conditions
- Double-pane WideVision lens, 170° wide, anti-fog treatment that does not wear off
- Impact performance: ANSI Z87.1-2015 plus military ballistic standard MIL-DTL-43511D
- Over-the-glasses design with space for prescription frames
- Outriggers and a 45 mm strap whose inner side is coated against slipping
- Comes with Tear-Offs; Roll-Off ready with Leatt's optional 48 mm WideVision kit
The Rose UC lens
At 32% VLT this tint blocks roughly two thirds of the visible light. As a general guide, values in this range suit clear skies and open tracks where a clear lens would leave you squinting. The pane is doubled for permanent anti-fog and shaped for a 170° WideVision field. Leatt describes it as bulletproof, backed by ANSI Z87.1-2015 impact testing and the MIL-DTL-43511D military ballistic standard, and the goggle holds CE EN 1938:2010 certification in line with PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425.
Glasses wearers and face foam
Riders who need correction can keep their prescription glasses on: the Velocity 5.5 follows an OTG layout. The face seal is a three-layer foam made in two densities, finished with an anti-sweat fleece on the skin side.
Frame and strap
Leatt narrows the frame towards its sides so it also fits helmets that offer a smaller eye port. The strap is 45 mm wide, coated against slipping and anchored to outriggers. Below the lens the frame stays open and drains itself, so sand and grit fall out instead of sitting on the inside edge.
Tear-Off and Roll-Off
Posts are already fitted and a Tear-Off pack is part of the delivery. For longer muddy races the frame is prepared for the WideVision 48 mm Roll-Off system, available separately.
What you should know
A 32% lens gets dark under trees, in late afternoon and on overcast days. If your rides often lead into the woods or into dusk, pair this goggle with a clear lens; Leatt's Velocity range spans 22 to 83% VLT. The Roll-Off kit is not included. Like every Velocity 5.5, it ships in plastic-free packaging.
Colour
Forge Grey mixes cool light and dark greys on the frame with red accents near the outriggers, while the strap carries a grey, white and black graphic. The rose lens adds a warm hint to the front. It is a calm, technical look that works with black, white or red kit and keeps dust marks less obvious than a white frame would.
