Twenty-Three Litres, Slung Low
KTM's 2021 redesign moved the fuel from above the engine to a tank wrapped around it. The centre of gravity dropped by a substantial margin and a motorcycle weighing 250 kilograms became genuinely manageable at walking pace on a loose surface.
Where the Offset Originates
Adventure riders change master cylinders less often than track riders, but they do fit remote adjusters and occasionally a different lever assembly for glove clearance. Either can produce a stepped clamp geometry that the factory arrangement does not have.
Checking Before Ordering
Offset means the two clamp bolts do not sit on a line square to the bar. Looking settles it immediately, and on a used machine with an unknown modification history that check is worth more than any assumption.
A Crowded Handlebar
Hand guards, a navigation cradle, a phone mount and often auxiliary light switches. Adventure bikes gather hardware faster than anything else, and the dedicated drilling recovers a few millimetres in the most contested area of the bar.
Long Days in Thick Gloves
Mode changes on varying surfaces, cruise control on transits, the display when navigating. Operated for months of the year in winter gloves, where the machined step between controls is the only reliable way to tell one from another.
Dust and Rain Both
Grit works into a contact and stays; water at least drains. Sealed elements inside a housing with no moulded joint exclude both, which on a bike hosed down after a trail section matters continuously.
Black Anodised
A single finish, through the surface. On a handlebar already carrying guards and mounts it adds nothing to the clutter and dulls with contact rather than chipping.
