Two Camshaft Profiles
CAMSHIFT moves the intake shaft axially so that a second lobe takes over above a threshold. The rider feels one engine below and a different one above, and on a circuit the transition sits exactly where a corner exit builds.
Engine Braking Is a Control Here
KTM makes the deceleration torque adjustable in three steps, and on a large twin that setting changes how the rear behaves on a trailing throttle more than the traction level does. It is reached from this cluster and used between sessions.
Counting Down the Housing
A rider working blind does not read a switch; they count positions from the top and stop. Every button that operates equipment the motorcycle no longer carries is a position that has to be learned and then deliberately skipped.
Why Not a Superbike Cluster
Because nothing here talks to an external logger. The 1390's own ECU handles the switch, which means a rider can convert the cockpit for a track day on a Thursday evening and put the standard parts back on Sunday night.
The Flyscreen Does Nothing
KTM fits a token deflector that manages airflow over the instrument panel and leaves the hands entirely in the wind. At the speeds this engine reaches, a control has to be found against pressure rather than in still air.
What a Slide Costs
Naked bikes land on the bar. The question is not whether the switch is damaged but whether it still holds position on the tube afterwards, and a clamp cut from billet does where two clipped shells around a broken boss do not.
Black Anodised
The colour is a conversion of the metal itself rather than a layer over it, which is why a scrape greys the surface instead of revealing aluminium underneath.
