DescriptionThe whole story▼
The M1000RR was built for the grid, and the JP PLSR 038 gives it a left-hand cluster to match: reduced to the racing controls, milled from Ergal 7075.
Key Features
- BMW M1000RR (2020–2026)
- Reduced race control set
- Black, blue or titanium anodising
- CNC-milled Ergal 7075
- Sealed switch elements
- Plug-and-play on the original connector
A Race Switch on a Race Homologation Bike
There is a certain rightness to this combination. The M1000RR exists because World Superbike requires a road-legal version of what is raced, and every part of it is a compromise between two rulebooks. Fitting a cluster that drops the road controls is the owner completing the argument BMW started.
Operating a Cockpit at Sixteen Thousand RPM
The M's rev ceiling is high enough that the whole cockpit is buzzing at the top of a gear. Under that, a moulded switch with a soft action gives no clear confirmation that anything has happened. A milled housing transmits the detent to the thumb rather than absorbing it, which is the difference between pressing a button and knowing you pressed it.
What Stays and What Goes
The functions a rider needs between the pit exit and the chequered flag remain: limiter, mode confirmation, the essentials. Indicator and horn control does not. For a motorcycle that spends its life between garage and grid, that is the correct set, and it is why race clusters are narrower than road ones despite costing more.
Anodising Choices for a Race Bike
Titanium, black and blue. On an M in the factory Competition colours, blue is the only one of the three that appears elsewhere on the motorcycle. Black is the default for a bike wearing team livery, where anything reflective in the cockpit is a distraction rather than a feature.
Standard Harness, No Loom Required
This is a race cluster rather than a superbike one, which means it works with the motorcycle's own wiring and ECU. No racing loom is needed and no aftermarket dashboard has to be present. For an M1000RR used at track days rather than raced, that makes it the simpler of the two routes to a cleaner cockpit.
