DescriptionThe whole story▼
Standing on the pegs is how a DesertX is ridden once the tarmac runs out, and every time you do it your boot heel grinds against the same patch of frame. The heel guard is the sacrificial panel that takes that wear instead of the paint. In carbon it takes it better, and it is the cheapest part in the Fullsix DesertX range.
Key Features
- Takes the abrasion from boot heels that would otherwise land on the frame and swingarm pivot area
- Autoclave carbon, not a self-adhesive film — it can be unbolted and replaced when it is worn through
- Uses the original mounting points, so nothing is drilled or glued to the frame
- Available in clear coat, matt, satin and raw
- The lowest-priced entry into the Fullsix DesertX range, and the one most likely to pay for itself at resale
A Wear Part That Should Be Cheap to Replace
There is a sensible argument for buying this one raw. It is going to be scuffed by a boot sole within the first month, so a mirror-deep clear coat is largely wasted on it. Raw carbon costs less, weighs marginally less, and develops a used look rather than a damaged one.
What carbon adds over the original is simply hardness. A thermoplastic guard polishes smooth and then starts to thin; a cured laminate resists the abrasion for considerably longer before the weave shows through. When it finally does, you unbolt it and fit another.
Fitment and Compatibility
Ducati DesertX, 2022 to 2026. Single piece, supplied for the side Ducati fits it to as standard. Uses the original screws.
Road Approval
No ABE and no EC type-approval is published for this part. It is a bolt-on protective cover with no effect on any approved characteristic of the motorcycle, but confirm the position for your own registration before road use.
A Note on Ordering
This is a single panel, not a pair. Ducati fits a heel guard on one side only, and the Fullsix part follows the original. If you were expecting two pieces, the parts that come as a left-and-right set in this range are the hand guards, the frame covers, the inner side fairings and the side fairings.
Because it is the least expensive part in the range, it is also the usual first purchase — the one people buy to see whether the weave and the finish look right on their bike before committing to a side fairing set. If that is the plan, order it in the finish you intend to use throughout rather than the cheapest one, otherwise the sample tells you nothing.
