DescriptionThe whole story▼
On a track day, a rider of the Monster 1200 R spends most of the time on the front brake and barely touches the pedal. On the road the rear gets a little more work, but on a sporting naked bike like this it stays the quiet partner of the braking system, and quiet parts are easily neglected. Its fluid ages all the same, whether the pedal is used or not. That rear reservoir can wear Accossato's TS012, listed for the Monster 1200 R from 2016 to 2019 and made of machined aluminium, anodised in one of seven colours.
Key Features
- Rear brake fluid reservoir cap for the Ducati Monster 1200 R, 2016 to 2019
- Fits the original rear reservoir, according to Accossato
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised
- Seven colours: blue, red, black, silver, gold, green, orange
- Combines with the FP007 clutch cover and the TS003 front reservoir cap
- Fit to be confirmed on the application list
- No German ABE documented; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Cut from aluminium on CNC machines and then anodised, the TS012 carries its colour in the surface: blue, red, black, silver, gold, green or orange. It is made for the stock rear reservoir of the listed models, so on the Monster 1200 R nothing changes but the lid. The rubber part beneath the old cap deserves a quick check during the swap; if it has cracked or lost its shape, a new one is due.
The Quiet Partner
A brake that is rarely used gives little feedback about its condition. The front lever of the Monster 1200 R tells you quickly when something is wrong, but a rear pedal that is touched only now and then can hide old fluid for years. That is why the change interval in the owner's manual applies to the rear circuit as much as to the front, however few miles the bike covers. When the next fluid service is due, ask for both ends to be done, and use the occasion to fit the TS012 if you like. The swap itself is simple. Stand the bike upright so the reservoir sits level, drape an old towel over nearby paint and bodywork, and have water ready, because brake fluid damages paint and any drop should be rinsed off at once. Open the reservoir briefly, check that the fluid is within the marked range, and close it with the new cap, tightened with a light hand. Give the pedal several firm presses with the bike at rest; it should feel solid before the bike moves.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list gives the Monster 1200 R from 2016 to 2019 for the TS012. The same cap is also in our range for the Hypermotard 939, the Diavel 1260 S and the Hyperstrada 821. With the FP007 for the clutch and the TS003 for the front brake, Accossato offers three caps for the Monster 1200 R, and all three come in blue, red, black, silver, gold and orange. Check the application list before ordering.
Road Approval
Since we have no ABE or test certificate for the TS012, it is intended for racing and competition use.
Scope of Delivery
