DescriptionThe whole story▼
No other middleweight has filled as many grids as the Suzuki SV650. Since 2003 it has been the standard machine of club racing in half of Europe, cheap enough for a first season and durable enough to survive one, and whole championships have been written around it. Where one model dominates a class, the paddock develops its own economy of shared knowledge and shared parts. Accossato covers the SV650 with the FC122, a quick-release fuel tank cap machined from aluminium with a pin in one of six colours.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Suzuki SV650, 2003 to 2020
- Made entirely of CNC-machined aluminium
- Quick-closing pawl for opening and closing the tank in moments
- Pin in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
- Replacement pawl sold on its own
- New Accossato design
- Application list decides the fit; check it before ordering
- No German ABE documented; a track part
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato cuts the FC122 from aluminium on CNC machinery and asks the material to do the work, describing the finished cap as robust and durable; the styling is new. The closure is a quick-closing pawl, which on the SV650 means the tank is opened with one hand and shut the same way. The pin fitted into the pawl comes in six colours and is the one thing you specify when ordering. Because Accossato also sells that pawl on its own, a damaged one is a small order rather than a new cap.
The Spares Shelf in a One-Model Class
In a class where everyone rides the same machine, the paddock turns into a shared store. Somebody always has the lever you need, the bodywork fastener that went missing, or a spare pair of hands at scrutineering. Parts that can be bought individually fit that culture far better than assemblies, because they are cheap enough to keep on a shelf for a season and useful to more than one person. The separately available pawl belongs in that category: it lives in a small box with the cable ties and the spare bolts, it costs little to keep, and on the morning it is needed nobody has to drive home. Riders who run an SV650 in a championship tend to learn this in their first year.
Fitment and Compatibility
This listing covers the SV 650 as Accossato files it, from 2003 to 2020. In our catalogue the same FC122 also appears for the SFV650 Gladius, the DL1000 V-Strom and the GSX-S750. Check your bike against the application list before ordering, and get in touch if the entry for your year is unclear.
Road Approval
Accossato documents no German ABE and no parts certificate for this cap, so it is restricted to closed courses. For the road, the SV650 keeps its factory cap, which normally locks with the ignition key.
