DescriptionThe whole story▼
BMW launched the R nineT to mark ninety years of its motorcycle division and designed it with personal builds in mind; the rear section of the frame can be unbolted for a solo look. Whatever an owner changes on the R nineT, the front brake is wisely left at the dimensions BMW chose. Accossato's DK007 follows that principle. It is a fixed, one-piece steel front disc for the R nineT from 2014 to 2021, and the Italian maker says it swaps directly for the original equipment disc.
Key Features
- Fixed front disc for the BMW R nineT, 2014 to 2021
- Listed by Accossato under the R 1200 nineT name
- Outer diameter 320 mm, inner diameter 181 mm
- 5 mm thick when new, minimum thickness marked on the disc
- One-piece steel construction, according to Accossato
- Interchangeable with the original equipment disc, per Accossato
- One disc per order; the R nineT has two front discs
- No German ABE documented; intended for the track
Construction and Material Quality
In a fixed disc there is no joint between the zone the pads squeeze and the zone that bolts to the wheel. The DK007 is made that way, as a single steel part measuring 320 mm across the outside and 181 mm across the central bore, with a friction face that starts life 5 mm thick. With no rivets, there is nothing between ring and centre that could develop play over the years. Accossato attributes the design to lessons from Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3, and says it keeps the mass of its discs low so that the bike turns in willingly.
A Custom Build With Stock Stopping
Most R nineT projects start with the parts people see: a different seat, lower or higher bars, a shorter tail, new lights. Brakes rarely feature in the plan, yet a build is a good moment to look at them, because the bike is apart and every component passes through your hands. If the front wheel comes out for a new tyre or for painting the rims, inspect the discs while they are off. Compare their thickness with the minimum printed on each one, look for a raised lip at the outer edge and run a fingertip across the face to find grooves. Replacing a worn disc with one of identical size keeps the caliper position and the pad track exactly as the factory arranged them. Custom work is about expression; stopping should stay predictable. A new disc also asks for fresh pads and a patient bedding-in period before the finished R nineT is ridden hard.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the DK007 for the R 1200 nineT from 2014 to 2021. For the same motorcycle the list also names the DK006, a fixed disc with a smaller outer diameter, recorded for the 1170 roadster from 2013 to 2023 and for the Urban G/S. Because the two differ in size, measure your existing disc first: the DK007 is the one for a disc 320 mm across. The R nineT carries two discs at the front, and the price applies to one.
Road Approval
The DK007 comes without a German ABE, and no type approval has been documented for it. Its place is the closed circuit and competition, not the public road.
Scope of Delivery
You receive a single DK007 fixed disc for the front wheel. Renewing both sides of the R nineT means ordering a quantity of two; pads and bolts are not supplied.
