DescriptionThe whole story▼
Every woods rider has a story about the bog: a dark, harmless-looking patch of trail that swallowed a rear wheel up to the swingarm. The KTM 125 XC-W, light as it is, can often be coaxed out of such places where a heavier bike would need a rope and two friends, but only with patient work at the clutch. Accossato's C7283 takes over the clutch side of the 125 XC-W from 2017 to 2019. CNC-milled from Ergal 7075 in Italy, it offers room for four fingers on a blade that can fold forward in a fall.
Key Features
- Folding off-road clutch lever for the KTM 125 XC-W, 2017 to 2019
- Replaces the standard lever at the original clutch mount
- Long blade, designed for four fingers
- Anti-break joint: the blade can fold forward if the bike goes over
- Milled in Italy from solid Ergal 7075
- Available in black, blue, orange or red on a dark base
- No German ABE documented; intended for off-road riding
Construction and Material Quality
Ergal 7075 is the starting point of the C7283: a high-strength aluminium alloy that Accossato machines from solid on CNC equipment in Italy. The company names strength, reliability and low weight as the reasons for the choice. The lever is made in two parts. The dark base fits the pivot of the original clutch mount and contains the joint; the blade, in one of four colours, pivots on it and can fold forward. On this side Accossato uses its longer pattern, with a blade sized for four fingers.
Stuck to the Swingarm
Getting out of deep mud is less about power than about patience. Opening the throttle wide just digs the rear tyre deeper. Riders who get out quickly stand up, move their weight back and let the clutch out gently in a low gear, so the tyre turns slowly enough to find something to bite on. When that fails they rock the bike: lift the front, pull the clutch, push forward, let it out again, inching the 125 XC-W out of the hole a little at a time.
All of that happens with the bike barely upright. Boots sink, the rear slides sideways, and sooner or later the bike tips onto its left side in the mud, the clutch lever pressed into the ground while the rider tries to lift it with nothing solid underfoot. Soft ground is kind to levers in most falls, but rocks and branches lie hidden under many bogs, and heaving a bike upright can twist a trapped lever. The joint on the C7283 gives the blade a chance to fold forward instead of bending or snapping, so the clutch still works when you finally drive out.
Fitment and Compatibility
The KTM 125 XC-W of 2017 to 2019 is the application Accossato gives for the C7283, which replaces the lever at the original clutch mount. On the brake side the B8283, also folding, is listed for the same three years. Red is available only for the clutch lever, so a matching pair of levers on the 125 XC-W means choosing black, blue or orange.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the C7283. It is intended for off-road riding and competition, like the 125 XC-W.
Scope of Delivery
