The facts.
DescriptionThe whole story▼
When a manufacturer turns a sportbike into a naked, most of what changes is visible: the fairing comes off, the handlebar and riding position change, the motorcycle looks like something else. What usually stays is the part nobody sees. ZXMoto built the 820R around the same 818.8 cc triple and aluminium chassis as the 820RR, and Sprint Filter lists the same element for both. For the owner of a new model from a brand founded in 2024, that is a reassuring detail: the intake of this naked is already a known quantity.
Key Features
- Dry, single-layer woven polyester with an 80 µm rating and threads from 22 µm across
- Rated flow of 5,050 l/m²/sec
- 93.13 % of 100-micron particles retained, where four-layer oiled cotton manages 76.42 %
- Roughly twice the filtering area of other performance elements
- Replaces the paper panel in the unmodified airbox, with no remap
- Never oiled, cleaned and reused, with two years of warranty from purchase
A high-revving triple on the road
ZXMoto quotes 135 hp at 12,000 rpm for the 820R, which places the engine's greatest appetite for air firmly at the top of the rev range. On the road that region is visited briefly; most riding happens far below it, where the P08's capacity is not remotely stretched. That is why the standard weave suits this motorcycle so well: it filters finely enough for everyday air, flows generously when the engine does ask, and can be cleaned back to condition rather than left to load up. It does not raise the output — no element in an unmodified airbox makes a standard 820R stronger.
Sharing parts with the RR
Because the element is shared with the 820 RR, owners of either bike draw on the same supply. Sprint Filter also cuts a P14 nonwoven and the P08 F1-85 racing weave for this housing, both likewise listed for the RR and the R. The P14 filters far finer and flows about a third as much, which suits dusty roads; the F1-85 flows three times as much for almost two and a half times the price, and belongs on a circuit bike. For a naked ridden on the road, the P08 is the one to buy.
Care and cleaning
Air from a compressor, held on the clean side of PM291S and worked outwards, removes the dry dirt the way it arrived. What stays — road film, insects — comes out in lukewarm water with a mild detergent, rinsed until clear. Dry the element in moving air at room temperature, well away from heat guns, radiators and flames, and refit it dry. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
For the ZXMoto 820R of 2025 and 2026. The same element is listed for the 820 RR sportbike of the same years; both appear in the Fitment tab.
