Royal Enfield has given the name Classic to three different motorcycles, and Sprint Filter answers each of them with a part number of its own. The Classic 350 takes one element, the Classic 500 takes another, and the Classic 650 of 2025 and 2026 takes this one, the CM265S. At a parts counter the badge cannot separate the three, because what identifies an airbox is the displacement rather than the word stamped beside it. Quote the number and the year of registration and the ambiguity is gone; quote the model name on its own and there are three panels it could mean.
Key Features
- Woven polyester in a single layer, run dry, rated at 80 µm and 5,050 l/m²/sec
- Specified for the 650 airbox exactly as it leaves the factory: nothing cut, nothing relocated, no remap
- Around twice the filtering surface of other performance elements, folded into the standard housing
- The ø 22 micron figure belongs to the polyester thread itself, not to the openings between the threads
- 93.13 % of 100-micron particles held back in Sprint Filter's comparison, against 76.42 % for four-layer oiled cotton
- Cleaned and refitted rather than discarded, with two years of warranty from the date of purchase
Three Classics, three part numbers
The name has travelled across the range for decades and the catalogue carries that history, but a filter is drawn around a box, not around a nameplate. Each of the three capacities has a housing of its own shape, so each has an element of its own, which is why the 650 sits on this number while the smaller Classics sit elsewhere in the listing. The displacement in the title of this page is doing real work, and so is the year span. Both are printed on the registration document, and between them the part is settled.
What the element is for
With the right panel in hand the case for it is modest, and worth stating plainly. A drop-in element does not make a standard motorcycle noticeably stronger, and a description that promises otherwise has left the subject. What the woven polyester offers instead is an intake restriction that stays where it started: the surface can be brought back to the condition it was rated in, so the figure on the specification is one the element returns to rather than one it leaves behind. A paper panel travels in one direction only, from new to due.
Care and cleaning
Service the CM265S dry. Hold an air line against the clean side and work outwards, so whatever settled on the face is driven back the way it arrived. Water belongs to the greasy occasions rather than the dusty ones: lukewarm, a little mild detergent, then rinsing until it runs clear. Dry it in moving air and give it the time it needs, with no heat gun, no oven and no flame, then refit it untreated. The maintenance sheet sits under Downloads.
Fitment & Compatibility
For the Royal Enfield Classic 650 of 2025 and 2026. Sprint Filter lists the same element against two further 650s, the Shotgun from 2024 and the Super Meteor from 2023, so three machines share this part number. Check your own year in the Fitment tab before ordering.
