The CMX300 Rebel is a licence-class machine before it is anything else: a low, light cruiser sized to what an early entitlement permits, and for many riders the first motorcycle they own rather than borrow. Sprint Filter catalogues it under PM241S — and catalogues the larger CMX500 Rebel under exactly the same number. One element, two capacities, one airbox. That is what makes a lifetime element worth the money on the smaller Rebel: it does not become scrap the day its owner steps up within the same range.
Key Features
- Dry woven polyester, run with no oil on it at all, so nothing can lift off the medium and travel downstream
- Rated filtration of 80 microns at a flow of 5,050 litres per square metre per second
- Polyester yarn measuring 22 microns across and upwards — that figure describes the thread itself, not the aperture between threads
- Around twice as much working medium as other performance elements carry
- Fits the standard airbox in the place the paper cartridge left; nothing is cut and the fuelling map is untouched
- Serviced rather than consumed, and covered for two years counting from the purchase date
One part number across the licence step
The fitment here reads Honda CMX300 Rebel (2017–2026) and Honda CMX500 Rebel (2017–2026). Two motorcycles, one filter. Riders who start on the 300 seldom stay there indefinitely, and the machine one step up takes the identical part. A paper cartridge bought for the 300 is thrown out at the next service, and again at the one after that. This element is bought once, cleaned as often as the riding asks for, and is still correct if the next Rebel in the garage is the bigger twin.
What a small twin actually gains here
Not power. An intake element does not make a standard motorcycle stronger, and any description claiming otherwise is selling the wrong story. What changes is the shape of the intake restriction over time. A paper cartridge is at its best on the day it goes in and only moves in one direction afterwards; a dry weave is taken out, blown through and returned to its own starting point, so the restriction stops drifting upward between services. Nor does a freer element mean a dirtier engine. In Sprint Filter comparison work the P08 holds back 93.13 per cent of 100-micron particles, where four-layer oiled cotton gauze manages 76.42 per cent — more is kept out, not less, and with no oil film near the intake tract.
Care and cleaning
Everything happens dry. Compressed air is the normal service for the PM241S: put the nozzle on the clean face and drive the dirt back out the way it arrived. After a hard season, wash it in lukewarm water with a little mild detergent and rinse until the water runs clear. Let it dry in air alone — never a hairdryer, heat gun or flame — and refit only once it is dry right through. The maintenance sheet sits in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Honda CMX300 Rebel across model years 2017 to 2026. Two machines are covered in total, the CMX500 Rebel of the same period being the other; both are listed in the Fitment tab.
