DescriptionThe whole story▼
Shaft 12/120, Öhlins part number 00102-12. A shaft is measured by diameter and overall length, and both are specific to the unit it belongs to.
Key Features
- Öhlins part number 00102-12
- Length 120 mm
- Diameter 12 mm
- Original Öhlins service part
Function
This one measures 12 mm, 120 mm, and those figures are what separate it from the neighbouring numbers. A shaft is threaded at both ends: one for the piston, one for the mounting. The damper shaft carries the piston through the oil and out through the seal head. Shafts are not shortened or extended; the length is the specification.
Why the Original
The tolerances here are the ones the unit was assembled to, not a pattern equivalent's interpretation of them. Öhlins manufactures service parts on the same lines as production parts — there is no second quality. Where a number has been superseded, Öhlins states the replacement — we pass that on. Order by part number. The dimensions below are the ones Öhlins publishes for it.
How to Be Sure It Fits
The reliable route is the exploded drawing: find the position, read the number, order it — 00102-12 in this case. The published dimensions are diameter 12 mm, length 120 mm — measure the old part against them if you are unsure. Shafts are not shortened or extended; the length is the specification. Any mark on the polished section is a reason to replace rather than to reassemble.
Fitting and Setup Service
A damper rebuild is workshop work: it needs the unit dismantled, the shim stack rebuilt in the correct order and the gas charge reset. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and do exactly that in house — send us the unit or ask us to fit the part with your order.
