DescriptionThe whole story▼

The SE adds Öhlins, Brembo and gold paint to the Z900RS. The JP PD KA037 replaces its right-hand switch with a body machined from Ergal 7075.

Key Features

  • Kawasaki Z900RS SE (2021–2025)
  • Universal hole pattern for either master cylinder
  • Full street control set
  • Black, red or titanium anodising
  • CNC-milled Ergal 7075
  • Plug-and-play on the original connector

What the SE Actually Adds

An Öhlins S46 rear shock, Brembo M4.32 calipers with a radial master cylinder, and a gold and black paint scheme that quotes the racing Kawasakis of the 1970s rather than the road bikes. It is the version bought by riders who intend to use the chassis rather than only look at it.

A Radial Master Cylinder as Standard

Because the SE leaves the factory with a Brembo radial unit, its clamp geometry differs from the standard Z900RS from the outset. That is exactly the situation the universal hole pattern exists for, and it makes this the version where the flexibility is used rather than held in reserve.

Retro Styling, Current Electronics

Traction control, ABS and riding modes all sit behind the round dials, and the right-hand cluster selects them. The contrast between the 1972 appearance and the 2021 electronics is the whole point of the motorcycle, and the switchgear is where the two meet physically.

Why Owners Change It

On a bike specified with Öhlins and Brembo, the moulded plastic switch housing is conspicuously the cheapest-looking thing in the rider's view. Replacing it is a small change that closes an obvious gap in the specification.

Three Anodised Finishes

Black, red and titanium. Against the SE's gold and black scheme, black is the choice that disappears and titanium the one that reads as a considered addition.

Reversible

The standard assembly unbolts and can be refitted at any point. Retro machines are held onto and sold on with their original parts expected to be present, so keeping the moulded cluster in a box is worth the shelf space.
