DescriptionThe whole story▼
Five point one kilograms and ten and a half horsepower. On a motorcycle that already makes 201.9 PS, a gain of that size from an exhaust is unusual — and it comes with the single largest weight reduction of any complete system in this catalogue.
Key Features
- Cut to 5.7 kg where BMW's own system weighs 10.8 — over five kilograms gone
- 10.5 PS more measured at 8,550 rpm, peak output reaching 202.9
- Torque reaches 121 Nm from 116.3, taken at 8,450 rpm
- Complete Racing Line system in titanium
- Covers four BMW models across eight model years
- Three hours of workshop time
- No road approval — circuit use only
Four Motorcycles, One System
BMW's 999 cc ShiftCam four powers the faired S 1000 RR, the homologation-special M 1000 RR, the naked S 1000 R and the M 1000 R. All four share the exhaust route, and this system covers them from 2019 through 2026.
That span includes two generations of S 1000 RR and the introduction of both M models. For a part at this price, a fitment list that broad is worth knowing.
Where Five Kilograms Hides
BMW's standard system on these machines weighs 10.8 kg — the heaviest complete exhaust in this catalogue after the Africa Twin's. Euro 5 on a 200 PS four requires a large catalytic converter and a large silencer, and both sit low under the engine.
Removing 5.1 kg is roughly two and a half per cent of a wet S 1000 RR, taken from the lowest point of the motorcycle.
Three Hours
180 minutes is the longest fitting time in this catalogue. A modern superbike packs its exhaust under the engine behind fairing lowers, a radiator and an oil cooler, and the headers do not come out until most of that is off the bike.
This is a workshop job with the machine on a lift, and the labour cost is a real part of the total.
The Slash-One
The /1 marks a revision. Akrapovic keeps the base number when a part is improved rather than redesigned; S-B10R5-APLT without the suffix is the earlier version and this is the current one.
Ten and a Half Horsepower
That is the largest power gain from any complete system in this catalogue, and it comes from a motorcycle that already makes 201.9 PS. A Euro 5 superbike carries an enormous amount of exhaust restriction, and removing it recovers more than most people expect.
The 121 Nm figure matters as much: 4.7 Nm more at 8,450 rpm, which on a track is where the bike is being driven out of a corner.
Both M Models Included
BMW's M 1000 RR and M 1000 R are the homologation-special versions with carbon wheels, revised electronics and, on the RR, winglets. Both share the exhaust route with their S-badged siblings and take this system.
Road Approval
None. This product does not meet emission compliance requirements for street or highway use.
