DescriptionThe whole story▼

Two-up touring on a Suzuki DL1000 V-Strom puts much more weight over the rear wheel, and the rear brake becomes a real partner to the front. For the DL1000 V-Strom from 2014 to 2019, including XT and XT Adventure, Accossato lists rear pad AGPP148, and the Sintered mixture is designed to keep a high, constant grip hot or cold, wet or dry.

Key Features

  • Rear pad AGPP148 for the Suzuki DL1000 V-Strom, 2014 to 2019
  • Also for V-Strom XT 2017 to 2019 and XT Adventure 2019
  • Sintered mixture, article number AGPP148ST
  • Accossato: high, constant grip at high and low temperatures
  • Strong bite on a wet disc
  • Stable pedal with passenger and luggage
  • Also offered as OR

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato says the Sintered compound holds a high and even grip level whatever the temperature and continues to bite well in the wet. With a passenger and panniers, the rear brake of a V-Strom takes a larger share of each stop, and on long descents it helps keep speed in check. Low wear, reduced fade and strong stopping complete Accossato's description.

Passenger and Panniers

With two people and luggage aboard, the V-Strom sits lower at the back and the rear tyre carries more load. Experienced touring riders use the rear brake more in that situation, especially to steady the bike before corners and on steep downhill hairpins.

A sintered pad keeps its bite as the disc warms on a long descent and responds quickly when the disc is wet from rain or spray. That consistency is what makes a loaded bike feel calm.

Before a two-up trip, check the rear pads, the fluid level and the preload setting. A well-balanced bike is easier to stop smoothly.

On a long tour, a glance at the rear pads every few days is enough. Loaded bikes wear the rear faster than solo riding, so a set that looked fine at home may be thinner than expected after a fortnight in the mountains.

Fitment and Compatibility

AGPP148 is Accossato's rear pad for the DL1000 V-Strom 2014 to 2019, the XT 2017 to 2019 and the XT Adventure 2019, with AGPA109 listed at the front. Fit the pair together, clean the piston first and check the rear reservoir after the job.

Road Approval

We have no ABE or German test papers for this pad. It is intended for competition use.
