DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Scrambler 1100 Special is the version that was put together with an eye on detail: spoked wheels, brushed metal where the standard bike uses paint, a lower bar and a generally quieter palette. Owners of a bike like that tend to notice small parts, which is exactly the category the rear brake reservoir cap falls into. Accossato's TS012 replaces it with something machined from aluminium and anodised, in seven colours that range from discreet to anything but.
Key Features
- Rear brake fluid reservoir cap for the Ducati Scrambler 1100 Special
- Accossato's years: 2018 and 2019
- Fits in place of the original cap on the standard reservoir
- Aluminium, worked on CNC machines and anodised
- Seven colours: blue, green, black, orange, red, silver, gold
- Widely listed by Accossato for other motorcycles too
- No German ABE available; supplied as a competition part
Construction and Material Quality
CNC machines cut the TS012 from aluminium, and anodising afterwards gives it one of seven finishes: blue, green, black, orange, red, silver or gold. Since the colour is part of the metal rather than a coat on top of it, the cap keeps its appearance on a machine that is cleaned regularly. Accossato dimensions it for the rear reservoir Ducati fits to the bikes on the application list, so the braking system of a Scrambler 1100 Special is untouched apart from the visible cap. Before the new one is fitted, check the original diaphragm underneath and renew it if it has aged badly.
A Colour for a Bike Built Around Detail
On a machine with brushed surfaces and spoked wheels, silver and black are the finishes that join in rather than interrupt, while gold has a long tradition on motorcycles of this kind and red or orange will be seen from the other side of the street. Whichever you choose, the fitting is the same modest piece of work. Stand the Scrambler 1100 Special upright so the rear reservoir is level, and clean its top before anything is undone, since dirt sitting there ends up inside the moment the cap lifts. Cover the paint nearby with a cloth and keep water within reach, because brake fluid attacks lacquer and hesitation makes it permanent. Look at the level between the marks and at the colour of the fluid. Brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air as the years pass, so the owner's manual gives an interval for renewing it that has nothing to do with how the cap looks. Fit the TS012, tighten gently, press the pedal several times, and then stand back and see whether the colour was the right call.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the TS012 for the rear reservoir of the Scrambler 1100 Special in 2018 and 2019. The cap replaces the original; the reservoir itself stays where Ducati put it. If anything at the rear master cylinder has been altered, the application list is the reference before ordering. The same part is catalogued at Inter-Pace for the DesertX, the Hypermotard 939 and Aprilia's Dorsoduro 1200.
Road Approval
For the TS012 we have no ABE and no test mark on record, which is why it appears here as a part for racing and competition.
