DescriptionThe whole story▼
Plenty of Aprilia Caponord 1200 holidays begin at a ferry terminal. Aprilia designed its big V-twin tourer for long distances with luggage, and for many owners that means a night crossing to Sardinia, Corsica or Greece, with the bike strapped down among dozens of others on a steel car deck. A swell that hardly registers in the cabin can be enough to topple a motorcycle that was tied down in a hurry. Accossato's PF031, listed for the Caponord 1200 from 2013 to 2016, gives the front of the bike two black sliders to land on instead.
Key Features
- Front axle sliders for the Aprilia Caponord 1200, 2013 to 2016
- Listed by Accossato for the ETV 1200 Caponord

- Aluminium and plastic, finished in black
- Spacers, screws and the remaining fitting parts in the box, according to Accossato
- Meant to take the first contact if the bike goes over
- No German ABE on file; supplied for track and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
PF031 is the code for Accossato's front fork protection, and the set consists of two black protectors, one for the left and one for the right. Accossato builds them from aluminium combined with plastic and, by its own account, puts the spacers, the screws and every other part needed for mounting in the same box. What they are meant to do is easy to describe. Should the Caponord end up on its side, the sliders are intended to touch the ground before the fork and the axle area, and that can reduce the damage there. They cannot rule damage out, and a slider that has taken a hard knock is simply renewed. Accossato itself was founded in 1969 in Moncalieri, near Turin.
On the Car Deck
Ferry crews load hundreds of motorcycles every summer, and most crossings pass without drama. Where things go wrong, the cause is usually the way a bike was secured. Ride aboard slowly, since ramps and decks are often wet, painted and smeared with oil, and follow the crew's directions to your space. Leave the Caponord in first gear and, unless you are told otherwise, on its side stand. The straps should pull the bike down onto its suspension from solid points, never from mirrors, levers or panniers, and soft loops protect the paintwork. Take valuables and documents with you, as the car deck is normally closed during the voyage. When the ship docks, go down early, release the straps calmly and roll off in a straight line. If the bike has shifted or fallen overnight, look at the sliders, levers and mirrors before you leave the port, and replace a slider that shows a heavy impact at the next opportunity.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato gives the PF031 for the ETV 1200 Caponord built from 2013 to 2016, and we have linked it to the Caponord 1200 for exactly those years. No other Accossato protection part is listed for this bike. The same pair appears in our shop for the Dorsoduro 750, the Shiver 750 and the Tuono V4 1100. Before ordering, please compare your Caponord 1200 with Accossato's application list, or send us the details from your registration document and we will check.
Road Approval
We have no test report and no approval document, such as a German ABE, for the PF031. We therefore offer it for racing and other competition use.
