DescriptionThe whole story▼
A four-cylinder MV Agusta is not a quiet motorcycle, and the F4 RR is no exception. Plenty of owners ride it with earplugs, which muffles the one sound that usually tells you the clutch is starting to bite: the engine note dipping as the plates take up the drive. What is left is feel, and feel depends on where the lever sits under your fingers. Accossato's ESH011 is a CNC-machined clutch lever for the F4 RR of 2013 to 2015, with a reach adjuster and a choice of three blade lengths.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the MV Agusta F4 RR, 2013 to 2015
- Mounts on the original clutch mounting
- Reach adjuster close to the pivot
- Blade lengths short, standard (about 138 mm) and long, depending on colour
- Black and red in the standard length only; silver in standard and short
- Anodised aluminium, milled on CNC machines, black hub
- Fixed blade without a hinge
- No German ABE on file, sold for the track
Construction and Material Quality
An aluminium lever can be made in two ways: by pouring metal into a mould, or by cutting the shape out of a solid blank. Accossato chooses the second. The ESH011 comes off a CNC machine with clean edges and an even cross-section, and only then is it anodised, black on the hub and your chosen colour on the blade. The hub carries the pivot and the adjuster. The blade is fixed: it does not fold, and without a joint halfway along its length there is nothing to add play at the moment the clutch begins to engage.
Finding the Bite Point With Earplugs In
Riding without earplugs, most people find the friction point partly by ear. The revs sag slightly as the clutch grips, and the hand reacts almost before the rider notices. With foam plugs in, or inside a well-sealed helmet, that cue is gone, and the left hand has to do the job alone. It manages that most reliably when the lever meets the fingers at the same point every time. Set the reach so that, in the gloves you normally wear, the blade rests against the middle of your fingers while the hand lies relaxed on the grip. Then practise a few slow starts in an empty car park and notice where the bike begins to creep. After a while the hand knows the spot without thinking, and on an F4 RR, whose engine likes revs and dislikes labouring, that knowledge turns a crawl through a crowded paddock or up a steep drive into a calm, controlled affair.
Fitment and Compatibility
This lever is listed by Accossato for the F4 RR from 2013 to 2015, under the version name F4 1000 RR. It mounts at the original clutch mounting and replaces the stock part. The matching brake lever is the EDF099, listed for the same three model years, so both hands can be set up alike and finished in the same colour.
Road Approval
For this clutch lever there is no documented German ABE, which is why we sell it for circuit use.
Scope of Delivery
