DescriptionThe whole story▼
Many new riders drop their first bike while standing still or nearly so, and a common cause is the front brake: squeezed a little too firmly with the handlebar turned, it stops the front wheel and tips the bike towards the inside. The Kawasaki Z125 is often a first motorcycle, light enough to pick up again, but better kept upright. The Accossato EDF025 is a brake lever for the Z125 of 2019 and 2020, made of CNC-machined, anodised aluminium. It works with the bike's original master cylinder, and its distance from the grip can be set for the hand that uses it.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the Kawasaki Z125, model years 2019 and 2020
- Mounts on the original front master cylinder
- Reach adjustable for small or large hands
- Standard blade of approximately 138 mm in seven colours
- Short blade in blue, gold, green, orange or silver
- Long blade in blue, gold, green or orange
- Anodised aluminium, black hub, rigid construction
- Sold for track use, no German ABE documented
Construction and Material Quality
On a small naked bike the levers are among the few pieces of bare metal in the rider's view, and they are handled more than anything else. The EDF025 starts as a piece of aluminium, is shaped by CNC machining and then anodised, which turns its surface into a hard oxide that holds the colour, so fingertips and gloves do not wear it away. Its hub, which contains the pivot and the reach adjuster, is black on all versions; the blade is finished in the colour you choose. There is no hinge in it: the lever is a single rigid part.
Gentle at Walking Pace
At walking pace, and especially with the bars turned, the front brake needs the lightest touch you have. For stopping in a tight turn or while manoeuvring, many instructors teach riders to use the rear brake and the clutch instead, and to straighten the bars before using the front. When the front is needed at low speed, it should come on softly, which is far easier when the lever sits where your fingers can move it by small amounts. Set the EDF025 on the Z125 so the blade meets your fingers with the hand relaxed on the throttle; smaller hands can bring it closer than a stock lever usually sits. Then practise slow turns and stops in a quiet car park, feeling how little pressure the front needs at that speed. The standard blade, closest to the original and made in every colour, suits most new riders.
Fitment and Compatibility
This lever is for the Kawasaki Z125 of 2019 and 2020, the 125 that Kawasaki introduced for the 2019 season. Accossato's list, where the bike appears as Z 125, starts earlier, but the product only covers the Z125 from its actual launch. The EDF025 goes on the Z125's original front master cylinder in place of the stock lever. For the left hand, Accossato makes the ESK025 for the same years, so a new rider can give both levers the same adjustable setup and a matching colour.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the EDF025. We therefore sell it as a part for track use.
